Corporate communication and social media
Corporate communication is important because it enabling company to achieve different activities and maintain mutual relation in a digital age through use of different social media such as what’s up, Instagram, twitter, fb, blogs and you tube to communicate with publics toward a certain products or service toward a certain organization or a company.  Social media marketing is an umbrella term that includes the use of social media for sales, marketing, customer service and public relations, indicating a convergence of these traditionally separate corporate departments. Social media consists of online technologies, practices or communities that people use to generate content and share opinions, insights, experiences and perspectives with each other Examples include blogs e.g. Blogger, WordPress, intranets, podcasts, video sharing e.g. YouTube, photo sharing e.g. Flickr, social networks e.g. Facebook, Myspace, wikis e.g. Wikipedia, gaming sites, virtual worlds e.g. Second Life, micro-blogging e.g. Twitter, videoconferencing, instant message chats, social event/calendar systems e.g. Eventful, social bookmarking sites e.g. Delicious, Digg,  Stumble Upon), and news aggregation sites, among others. In the last decade these technologies have risen in popularity and ubiquity, and are being utilized by public relations practitioners to perpetuate the ever-changing industry of corporate communications.
Social media marketing is a revolutionary communications tool that has quickly changed the ways in which public relations is practiced, becoming an integral part of corporate communications for many companies. Social media offers public relations practitioner’s new options for every aspect of the corporate communications process. From research to evaluation, social media tools can be utilized to create and distribute meaningful content to wider audiences than traditional media allows.
In this digital age the many companies use social media to get customers in different part of the world through the use of social media where people communicate from all parts of the world as a single village because of social media. Now days people can buying a product from abroad through social media that connect people from different part of the world. Because in this competitive world many company are in the competition so as to maximise profit and they make different approaches by using social media to catch the attention of their customers all over the world.
Also the aim purpose of corporate communication is to insure the mutual understanding between customers and organization and this is through the use of social media to make sure them getting information and also updating their customers on product or services that they offered also deal with different issues that may face organization. Corporate communication insure good relation with publics so as to make the community and the entire publics to have positive perception toward organization. Through corporate communication it enable people to interacting each other and share different information about organization.
All in all as a public relations practitioner you need to be aware about media especially social media because nowadays everything take place through media if you will not take your time to deal with media your organization can’t perform well so media is everything.
